Our school bears the name of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to His Sacred Heart is one of the most famous religious devotions to Jesus’ physical heart as the representation of His divine love for humanity. The origin of this devotion is derived from a French Roman Catholic nun, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, who received revelations of Jesus during mystical visions around the year 1673.
By the same token, we are also strongly and traditionally Dominican. The charism of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, whose order was founded by St. Dominic de Guzmán in 1216, has been at the heart of our education from the school’s inception. Under the protection of the Most Sacred Heart and His faithful servants, St. Margaret Mary and St. Dominic, the lives of countless students, their families, and friends have been enriched by the religious and intellectual contributions of the Dominican Sisters.
